Cropped Americana

Much like maxis, for a long time I’ve sworn off crop tops. In my eyes, I’m in no way thin enough or… curve-less…?…enough for the extra-short, cropped length. But lately, I’ve been inspired, and not by anyone other than myself. I’ve always preached body positivity. I’ve always been able to tell someone, “Love yourself. Every inch and imperfection of yourself.” I’m bad for not listening to my own adivce, though. That changes now. No longer will I worry about my body, but embrace it, and I’m starting with this crop top trend.

I DIY’d this Set Your Goals tee a long time ago, and love the off-the-shoulder result, but I’ve always had an issue wearing it, due to the awkward short hem. Restyled as a knotted, crop top though? I’m obsessed. I’ve recently jumped on this “knotted tee” train, and I don’t think I’m ever getting off it! I feel so sexy and badass in this top, especially with something high-waisted, like this super comfy, skater skirt. Just the right amount of coverage, to leave something to the imagination, right? I mean, how could you feel anything BUT sexy when you’re showing off your body and feeling comfortable doing it? This summer I pledge to show off some skin!

Now I want to know what makes you feel sexy. Is it showing off your tummy or legs? Maybe a well-fitted dress? What about your favorite lip color? Tell me. Tell the world! No one should be ashamed of feeling sexy, or confident. Let’s focus on the positivity of self-love.

Oh this is such a cute look–good job on the tee and good job for telling yourself to listen to yourself. I’ve been super critical of myself since having the baby and it takes me reinforcing myself to remember that I just gave BIRTH to realize that it’s ok to not be my old size right away. Plus, I actually have a chest now, so that helps LOL

Thanks so much for all of your kind words on my posts. I really appreciate it.

I love your empowering message Ashley, and way to confront yourself on body image. For me, I definitely feel like my stomach is my most unconfident thing to bare. However, whenever I find something that shows off my legs, I lean towards that ;) Aha, I live in shorts and skirts during summer!
Love this crop top on you, and you’re looking hawt!

I’ve actually never had a problem showing skin, but it’s easy to feel uncomfortable, whether it’s body issues or just not wanting to put up with the pervy stares. I like what you did here because it’s 100% appropriate.

Thanks, girlie! The pervy stares are definitely a concern sometimes, especially when you just want to show a little, but you have curves, so it comes off as too much.

Ashley, it makes me so happy to see you feeling so confident, especially since you are an absolute beautiful girl and you look amazing in this outfit! I love this idea of knotting your tshirt so that it becomes a crop top, brilliant!! I usually feel sexy when I wear a black dress with bright red lipstick!

:) Thanks so much, Marie! You’re the sweetest. You’re right, too! Red lipstick always makes me feel powerful, therefore sexy.

Thanks, lovely! :D It was a STRUGGLE to get my curly hair to stay up, and a whole bunch of bobby pins ;) Worth it, I guess!

You definitely look hot in this, babe, and you should definitely take your own advice and show off some skin!! With knotted crop tops and otherwise. I like crop tops paired with high-waisted stuff too, that combination flatters my body best. But a tight-fitting dress? Na-a. I hate those, I think they show off all of my flaws which are numerous.:D

Thanks! :D I’m definitely a fan of this look, myself. Getting over the initial fear of the camera + my belly, was the hardest part.
